Safety Guidelines
Your Safety is Our Priority
Gwandi is built on trust, but it's important to stay vigilant. These guidelines are designed to help you have safe and positive experiences when connecting with your community.
Meeting in Person
Meet in Public
Whenever possible, arrange to meet in a busy public place like a cafe, park, or shopping center. Avoid meeting in secluded areas or inviting strangers into your home alone.
Tell a Friend
Let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Consider sharing your live location.
Daylight Hours
Try to schedule exchanges during daylight hours. If you must meet at night, ensure the location is well-lit and populated.
Trust Your Instincts
If something feels off, it probably is. You are never obligated to proceed with a meeting. It's okay to cancel or leave if you feel uncomfortable.
Trust & Verification
Look for Verified Users: Users with the "Verified Local" badge have undergone additional identity and location checks. Prioritize connecting with verified members.
Check Reviews: Read reviews from other neighbours to gauge a user's reliability and reputation within the community.
Communicate in App: Keep all communication within the Gwandi app. This ensures there is a record of your conversation in case of any disputes or issues.
Red Flags to Watch For
- • Requests for payment outside the app (e.g., wire transfer, gift cards).
- • Refusal to meet in a public place.
- • Aggressive or inappropriate behavior/language.
- • Profiles with very little information or suspicious photos.
- • Deals that seem "too good to be true".
In an Emergency
If you are in immediate danger or witness a crime, contact local emergency services immediately.
